HUNZA: (Mountain Pass) 2.5 billion spent on tobacco annually in Gilgit-Baltistan: Aziz Karim Says

36.5 % in Gilgit–Baltistan use tobacco

These statistics were shared by Aziz Karim CEO Socio-Economic & Educational Development Organization (SEEDO) while addressing a press conference at Hunza Press Club.

He said the Gilgit-Baltistan government has drafted an anti-tobacco law in order to reduce smoking and other tobacco use in Gilgit-Baltistan .

The GB government will impose tax on Naswar to reduce its use.

SEEDO is implementing a one-year project Smoke-Free Gilgit-Baltistan. The project is funded by the Campaign For Tobacco Free Kids to Reduce Tobacco Use.

This project is creating awareness and running advocacy campaigns for implementation of a smoke-free law in Gilgit–Baltistan
