Bill against ‘honor killing’ to be tabled soon in Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly: Aurangzeb Advocate

Gilgit: Efforts are underway to increase quota for women in the local government bodies. A bill against the so-called ‘honor killing’ will be tabled soon in GBLA. Bill against under-age marriage was killed by assembly members from treasury and opposition benches.

This was stated by Parliamentary Leader for Law Aurangzeb Advocate while addressing a gathering held in Gilgit under the auspices of the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan. He also promised to prepare a bill based on the recommendations of the Women Task Force.

Speakers demanded that laws pertaining to protection of women at workplace and protection against harassment be extended and fully implemented to the Gilgit-Baltistan region.

Other speakers included former Information Minister Sadia Danish, Yasmin Karim, Aziz Ali Dad, and Israruddin Israr, among others.
