Read More »EvK2CNR and UNDP are jointly taking number of initiatives in Taisoot/Bilchar Bagrote GILGIT: (Mountain Pass) EvK2CNR and UNDP are jointly taking number of initiatives in Taisoot/Bilchar to promote ecotourism in the valley with the financial support of Italian Agency for Development Cooperation/Italian Government. As part of it a track has been developed from Taisoot to the basecamp of Dubani Peak that is almost 6 kilometers. A Gazebo will be constructed at the basecamp of Dubani Peak. Furthermore, camping sites have been developed aiming to host the tourist with staying and dining facilities. Similarly environmental clubs of students are being formed to sensitize the local communities and also the tourists visiting the village about the responsible tourism, waste management, and safeguarding the environment. Taisoot/Bilchar has highly rich history as local people regard the settlement hundreds of years old. An old mosque in Taisoot is said to be 700 years old similarly a tree of chinar is regarded as old as more than 1000 years. The Buddhist carvings are another historical heritage of the valley that may also attract huge number of tourists. As part of the initiatives to support Taisoot towards an ecovillage, trainings on the organic farming and improved agricultural practices will be held for the local communities with the support of different stakeholders including department of Agriculture GB. The youth can be given training on guiding and trekking together seeking support from the tourism department and other stakeholders.
