“COVID-19 Race against Humanity”

Ajmal Hussain ( Secretary Finance PTI GB )
Home Lockdown in Gilgit-Baltistan is an important need of the hour; if needed, the government should launch Corona virus awareness campaign in various regions of Gilgit-Baltistan, particularly in those Districts which are most likely to be infacted. Using Mic- campaign across GB without having any delay. If serious measurements are not being placed then situation in GB will be out of control. It is good to be proclaimed from every locality, village mosques, congregations, people do not leave their homes and keep themselves in quarantine for a certain period, refrain from getting flowers (Hugs) and hand shakes. Modernized countries such as Italy, France, US have ignored timely measures, which has worsened the situation there today as a result these countries are lacking in medical needs. Nevertheless this is a lesson for a poor region like Gilgit-Baltistan.We have to take self-timely and timely security measures by recognizing this fact which has taken so many lives around the world . Unfortunately there are still majority of people who are not taking this disease seriously and interacting each other’s on daily basis .

One should not forget Pakistan, especially Gilgit-Baltistan, does not have facilities available. If early precautions are not being taken then the entire region will be devastating by it’s fatal impact .

In the context of Gilgit-Baltistan’s population, the cases so far are far greater than those in the provinces of Pakistan. If we do not lockdown immediately then we will be facing unimaginable consequences.
We have example of Italy, where despite the best facilities in the world, the situation has become more complex and country is appealing for more help outside. Initially, people ignored the precautionary measures vowed by the Government and as soon as they saw this epidemic spreads like fire, time was gone. Now death toll in Italy rising up to 800 in a single day.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, there is a risk of a similar situation if preventive guidelines are not being implemented…..I would say that if fear has to be exercised for precautionary measures one should perform it . Really it is time to avoid crowdy places, markets, businesses, jobs and grouping in your local, village and muhallah. Try to get out of home if you need to, and wash your hands for 20 seconds while coming back home. Make sure everything thing is sensatized about the COVID-19. Remember this is not just limited to your life, we have to break this chain together.
Follow the World Health Organization’s Precautions!
May Allah bless us all!
