The delegation of Italian NGO (EVK-2CNR) led by Ashiq Ahmad Khan visited University of Baltistan

The delegation of Italian NGO (EVK-2CNR) led by Ashiq Ahmad Khan visited University of Baltistan, Skardu and had interaction with the faculty, students and administrative officials. The delegation discussed affairs related to wildlife. The Italian NGO is working on the issues of wildlife worldwide.

Controller Examination Dr. Ghulam Raza, Deputy Registrar Mr. Sajjad Hussain, HoD Dept. of Mathematics Dr. Munawar Abbas, Dr. Muhammad Ali of Dept. of Biological Science, Mr. Dostdar Hussain of Dept. of Business Management and Dr. Muhammad Riaz of Dept. of Educational Development were attending the meeting with the delegation.
Talking about the extensive and comprehensive role of University of Baltistan, Skardu, the delegate Ashiq Ahmad Khan wished to have collaborative relations with the university especially in the domain of wildlife. He said the university is an important institution of this region and the nation as a whole that the future of the nation and the region is attached with the varsity. We should not only focused on the teachers in terms of social, economic and nation development but also on the students who can contribute a lot in their respective fields. He further said that we should also focus on the social values and wellbeing establishing the department of sociology in the institution.
Dr. Ghulam Raza said Gilgit-Baltistan is the hub of enormous natural resources but the problem is that we do not have sufficient sources; we still practice traditional methods even in this era. He said we should avail modern and scientific methods. Highlighting an important point of GB, he said that the locals of GB has maximum knowledge and information as compared to any others regarding the natural resources of the region that needs to be considered as they have knowledge on the basis of experiment and observation.
Deputy Registrar, Mr. Sajjad Hussain said the purpose of the university should not only be the issuance of degrees but it should specially work on the moral and human values and awareness about these aspects of the society. The natural resources of GB have not yet been explored; we should explore them with great concern.
Dr. Munawar Abbas, HoD Dept. of Mathematics said that the university has established and started the department this year. He further said that the Department is trying to interlink it with other departments as well giving maximum exposure to all.
