Gilgit – Prime Minister of Pakistan, Nawaz Sharif, who is also Chairman of Gilgit-Baltistan Council, will visit Gilgit on coming Wednesday to administer oath to newly elected members of Gilgit-Baltistan Council, official sources said yesterday.
The prime minister would also chair the budget session of the Gilgit-Baltistan Council and announce new policies for tourism, mining, minerals, forests and timber.
He is also expected to offer special representation to G-B in the Pakistan-China Economic Corridor project.
According to spokesman of G-B government Fiaullah Faraq, federal ministers and PML-N leadership will accompany the Prime Minister during his visit to Gilgit.
“The Prime Minister will announce a comprehensive development package for the region” he added.
Meanwhile, PPP leaders called for a strike during the PM’s upcoming visit to Gilgit.
“The PM’s Gilgit visit is to launch his party’s election campaign for the son of GB Governor Mir Salem through announcing a development package and interference in administrative matters of GB,” said Provincial President PPP Amjad Hussain told the media.
