Red Crescent provides relief to quake victims of Ghizer

GILGIT: Pakistan Red Crescent on Monday provided relief over 300 families of Ghizer valley, affected by the devastated earthquake of 26 October, 2015.

According to a press release, issued by PRC provincial headquarter Gilgit, a number of 118 homeless families ofPhandar  valley have been provided shelters while 180 families of the same valley and 50 more families of Gupis and Yasin valleys have been provided winterized tents blankets, tarpaulin sheets, stoves, kitchen set, water cans and other things of domestic usage.

Moreover, 70 partially affected families in Darel valley have been provided winterized tents followed by the relief operation.

Speaking to the earthquake victims in Gupis valley, Member GBLA of the area Fida Khan said that the Pakistan Red Crescent has played an extra-ordinary role in providing relief to the quake victims of his constituency and proved itself a real humanitarian organization. He said that the PRC has worked for the vulnerable communities of Ghizer valley beyond their expectations of which the people of the area will remain grateful.

“Pakistan Red Crescent has been proactively working in Phandar and Darel valleys since occurrence of devastated earthquake followed by its relief operation and will stand behind the victimized families until their rehabilitation” said PRC Provincial Secretary Noor-ul-Ain while addressing the to the victims at Gupis valley.

She said that the PRC with support of its National Headquarters Islamabad and other Movement Partners has so far provided relief to over 700 victimized families of Ghizer and Diamar districts and shown profound sympathy with those who lost their lives due to the earthquake.
