ETI Program providesopportunities for poverty alleviation and sustainable development: Donal Brown

SKARDU: (MountainPass) The promotion of Gilgit will pave the way for the economic revolution inGilgit-Baltistan.  The settlement of barren lands and the patronage ofsmall landowners guarantee sustainable economic development.  These ideaswere addressed by Donal Brown, Associate Vice President of ETI, inauguratingthe Solar-powered Irrigation Project in Round Skardu.  He said that womenwere playing a key role in the development of agriculture, previously on atwo-day visit to Baltistan with Donal Brown EFAD, Asia and Pacific DirectorNigel Brad and Country Director Hobart Boyard and Additional Chief SecretaryDevelopment Syed Abrar Hussain.  Had arrived  The delegation will begiven a detailed briefing on the ongoing projects in the Balticistan Divisionat Regional Office ETI Skardu.  The delegation also visited VerticalFarming projects in Skardu, supported by ETI.  He also met with farmersand the community on the occasion and appreciated the interest of women in theagricultural sector and hoped that the program would provide opportunities forpoverty alleviation and sustainable development.  He left for Abad, wherehe will attend a high-level meeting regarding the ETI program on Thursday.
